NOAAPORT DVB-S Reception




Installing and Configuring the Novra S75 DVB-S Receiver

  1. Company website www.novra.com  (model S75).


  2. Physical Connection - 3.0 of S75 Receiver Instructions. For the initial setup you will need to use a computer running Microsoft Windows. Once the DVB-S receiver has been configured you will no longer need the Windows computer.


  3. IP configuration - sections 4.1 and 4.2 of S75 Receiver Instructions. Connect the DVB-S receiver to a Windows computer via a crossover cable and you can used the settings listed below.
      In the Network Configuration window of the DVB configuration utility:
      Receiver IP Address: 192.168.1.10
      Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
      Default Gateway: 192.168.1.3
      Enable IGMP Filtering: unchecked
      Status Destination Port: 0x1974
      Status Destination IP: 255.255.255.255


  4. Content Configuration - section 4.3 of S75 Receiver Instructions
    1. Click on the Content button in the S75 Management Console and the Content Configuration window should appear.
    2. Enter 101 into the PID field and click on the Add--> button.
    3. Repeat step B with the values; 102, 103, and 104.
    4. Click the Send button.


  5. Satellite Configuration - section 4.4 of S75 Receiver Instructions. Note: The values in steps B and C are subject to change dependent upon NWS actions.
    1. Click on the Satellite button in the S75 Management Console, and the Satellite Configuration window should appear.
    2. Enter 6.349 into the Symbol Rate field.
    3. Enter 1193.5 into the Frequency field.
    4. Make sure that the LNB Power On? check box is not selected.
    5. Click the Send button.


  6. The main window of the S75 Management Console should now display the settings listed below.
  7. In the Network section:
    Receiver IP Address: 192.168.1.10
    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.3
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Status Destination IP: 255.255.255.255
    DVB MAC Address: (use factory setting, unique for each receiver)
    IGMP Filter Enabled: unchecked

    In the Satellite section:
    Symbol Rate (Msps): 6.349
    Frequency (MHz): 1193.5
    Viterbi Code Rate: 7/8
    Viterbi BER (should be very small, near zero)
    Uncorrectable Errors (also very small, preferably zero)
     
    In the Selected Contents section:
    The items in the list box should reflect the PIDs that you entered in step #4 above.

    In the LNB Configuration section:
    LNB Power: unchecked
    LDB Fault: unchecked

  8. Disconnect the DVB-S receiver from the Windows computer.


  9. Connect the DVB-S receiver to the NOAAPORT ingest computer.
